People ex rel. Dep't of Pub. Health v. Wiley, 98763
In a collection suit against a physician who received scholarship money to go to medical school in exchange for agreeing to practice in an area of the state designated as having a doctor shortage, but who did not go into practice as agreed, treble damages are upheld where: 1) no "compromise" of the total claim amount had occurred; 2) defendant's default was not de minimis; and 3) there was no disputed material fact as to her default.
