Supreme Court of Illinois
In re D.S., 99991
In shelter care proceedings to make a newborn a ward of the State of Illinois, jurisdiction is upheld based on a finding that a "home state" cannot arise merely from a temporary hospital stay at birth, despite the fact that the child was born in Indiana. A finding of neglect is affirmed based on injurious environment.
