Supreme Court of Illinois

People v. Patterson, 98641

Conviction is affirmed over claim that the reading to the jury of the grand jury testimony of a witness constituted denial of defendant's constitutional right to confront witnesses where the error was determined to be harmless due to: 1) the overwhelming nature of the evidence of guilt; and 2) the fact the portions of the grand jury testimony which were inconsistent with defendant's version of events were proved by other evidence.
