Supreme Court of Illinois

Conviction for first degree murder, aggravated vehicular hijacking, and aggravated kidnapping is overturned based on ineffective assistance of counsel and the matter is remanded for a new trial where there was such a breakdown of the adversarial process that there was no meaningful testing of the prosecution's case against the defendant.
