Supreme Court of Illinois
PEOPLE v. CAMPBELL, 94425
Counsel in a criminal case may waive his client's right of confrontation by stipulating to the admission of evidence, where such stipulation is a matter of legitimate trial tactics or prudent trial strategy, as long as the defendant does not object. Defense counsel cannot stipulate to facts which establish the guilt of the accused.
