Appellate Court of Illinois

People v. Paige, 1063523

Conviction for possession of a controlled substance is affirmed over claims that: 1) defendant's conviction should be reversed because the state failed to establish a proper chain of custody; and 2) imposition of mental health court and youth diversion/peer court fees violated due process. A $5 court system fee is vacated and the costs, fines and fees order is amended to reflect a $5-per-day credit for the 49 days spent in custody to be applied to defendant's $500 controlled substance assessment.
