Denial of petitioner's motion to vacate his conviction of first-degree murder and sentence of death, and a petition for habeas relief, are affirmed and denied, respectively, over claims of error regarding: 1) whether his guilty plea was knowing and voluntary; 2) ineffective assistance of counsel during the guilt phase; 3) ineffective assistance of counsel during the penalty phase; 4) ineffective assistance in failing to request a competency hearing; and 5) the imposition of death by lethal injection.
