District Court of Appeal of Florida

Gonzales v. State of Florida, 4D05-3684

A conviction for carjacking, aggravated fleeing, and trespassing is affirmed where, because the defense elicited, through the testimony of a police officer, defendant's own statement which was intended to be exculpatory, the trial court did not abuse its discretion in admitting defendant's past felony convictions and in giving a limiting instruction as to same.
