District Court of Appeal of Florida

Global Heir & Asset Locators, Inc. v. First NLC Fin. Servs., LLC, 4D05-392

In a dispute over recovery of excess funds deposited in the registry of a court in a mortgage foreclosure case, an assessment of fees and a fine against a company in the business of contacting former property owners who may be entitled to such funds and a lawyer for bringing the claim is reversed where the trial court erred in finding that Florida law was so well established as to warrant fees or a fine under applicable law.
