District Court of Appeal of Florida

Childers v. State of Florida, 1D03-2154

A governmental entity may recover restitution under state law where it incurs financial losses because it was the victim of a defendant's criminal activity, but not for incurring costs relating to investigation, supervision or prosecution. Trial court ruling declining to order a defendant to pay restitution is reversed in a conviction for bribery and unlawful compensation or reward for official behavior.
