King v. CompPartners, Inc., 232197

Affirmed the dismissal of an employee's negligence suit against a workers' compensation utilization review management company. The employee claimed that he was harmed when he was denied further prescriptions of a certain medication without being allowed a weaning regimen or warned of the possible side effects of abruptly ceasing the medication. However, the California Supreme Court held that his tort suit was barred by the principle that workers' compensation provides an injured employee's exclusive remedy against an employer for compensable work-related injuries.
