People v. Whitmer, S208843

Defendant's convictions of 20 counts of grand theft for 20 separate fraudulent sales is reversed and remanded, where: 1) the Court of Appeal properly concluded that a defendant may be convicted of multiple counts of grand theft based on separate and distinct acts of theft, even if committed pursuant to a single overarching scheme; but 2) this new rule cannot be retroactively applied to defendant.
