City of Los Angeles v. County of Kern, S210150

28 U.S.C. section 1367(d) affords parties a grace period, allowing supplemental state law claims over which a federal court has exercised jurisdiction that would otherwise have become barred to be pursued in state court if refiled no later than 30 days after federal court dismissal. It does not suspend the limitations clock, with any time left from before the federal filing beginning to run again 30 days after dismissal, as the Court of Appeal erroneously concluded.
