Supreme Court of California

People v. Jones, S042346

Defendant's convictions for first degree murder and multiple other charges, and sentence of death, are affirmed, where: 1) the trial court could properly exclude the identified juror for cause based on his questionnaire responses without undertaking a further in-person exploration of the juror's views concerning capital punishment; 2) the trial court did not err in its finding of no group bias with regard to the excused prospective jurors; 3) the trial court did not abuse its discretion in denying defendant‘s pretrial and posttrial speedy trial motions; and 4) defendant's multiple other challenges fail.
