Supreme Court of California
In re Coley, S185303
The court of appeal's denial of defendant's request for habeas relief from his 25-year-to-life imprisonment under the Three Strikes Law, for failing to update his sex registration within five days of his birthday, is affirmed, as taking into account both the circumstances of defendant's triggering offense and his very serious criminal history, the 25-year-to-life sentence imposed upon him does not constitute cruel and unusual punishment in violation of the Eighth Amendment.
