In a case deciding what work product protection, under Code Civ. Proc., section 2018.010 et seq., if any, should be accorded to a) recordings of witness interviews conducted by investigators employed by defendant's counsel and b) information concerning the identity of witnesses from whom defendant's counsel has obtained statements, the Court of Appeals' decision is reversed where: 1) the recorded witness statements are entitled as a matter of law to at least qualified work product protection; and 2) the identity of witnesses is not automatically entitled as a matter of law to absolute or qualified work product protection.
