In a case deciding to what extent a felon carrying a loaded and concealed firearm may be punished separately for the crimes of possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a readily accessible concealed and unregistered firearm, and carrying an unregistered loaded firearm in public, the plain language of Penal Code section 654 prohibits multiple punishment for an act that is punishable in different ways by different provisions of law.
