People v. Picklesimer, S165680

In defendant's motion requesting the trial court to be removed from the state sex offender registry and relieved from his lifetime registration obligation, the judgment of the court of appeal is affirmed as for those like defendant, who are no longer in custody and whose appeals are final, claims for Hofsheier relief must be brought by way of a petition for writ of mandate in the trial court. Here, the court of appeal correctly concluded that defendant's freestanding postjudgment motion for Hofsheier relief is not cognizable.
