Smith v. Superior Court of Los Angeles (L'Oreal USA, Inc.), S129476
In the context of Labor Code Section 201, which provides that if an employer discharges an employee, wages earned and unpaid at the time of discharge are due and payable immediately, the "discharge" element may be met when an employer releases an employee after completion of a specific job assignment or time duration for which the employee was hired, and does not require an involuntary termination from an ongoing employment relationship.
