COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE v. SUPERIOR COURT OF RIVERSIDE COUNTY (RIVERSIDE SHERIFF'S ASS'N), S107126

Senate Bill No. 402, requiring counties to submit to arbitration of economic issues arising during negotiation with firefighter or law enforcement unions, violates the California Constitution as it deprives a county of authority to provide for compensation of its employees, and delegates to a private body the power to interfere with county financial affairs and to perform a municipal function.
