California Court of Appeal

In re D.Y., 287849

Held that the juvenile court improperly terminated dependency jurisdiction over a teenager. The juvenile court issued its termination order over the objections of the teenager and his grandmother (his legal guardian for 16 years) and against the recommendation of county social service officials. On appeal, the California Second Appellate District held that the juvenile court ought to have granted a request for a continuance to enable county officials to provide additional information, among other things.
