California Court of Appeal

Pogosyan v. Appellate Division of Superior Court (the People), 288362

Held that prosecutors failed to bring misdemeanor charges to trial in a timely manner. The defendant argued that the case against him must be dismissed because his already-extended trial date had been continued to a date more than 10 days after the date set for trial. Agreeing with his contention, the California Second Appellate District granted his request for a writ of mandate directing the case against him to be dismissed.
