California Court of Appeal

People v. Tapia, 075475

Affirmed the denial of a defendant's motion to withdraw his no-contest plea that led to convictions on conspiracy and cannabis charges. The defendant contended that he should be allowed to withdraw his plea because his lawyer had failed to advise him of the precise immigration consequences. Rejecting his contention, the California Fifth Appellate District found substantial evidence that the defendant had been advised of the consequences of his plea.
