California Court of Appeal
Amir v. Superior Court (the People), 173665
Held that a motorist who received a speeding ticket in Lancaster in Los Angeles County had a right to be tried in the City of Los Angeles. The motorist wanted to move the trial to the city courthouse, which was two miles from his home and thus much closer than the courthouse in Lancaster. Agreeing that he had a right under the Vehicle Code to be tried in the county seat in this case, the Los Angeles superior court, appellate division, issued a writ ordering that the location of the trial be changed.
