California Court of Appeal
Ehret v. WinCo Foods, LLC, 067575
Affirmed summary judgment against employees' claims that a supermarket chain violated their right to take meal breaks. The employees contended that the California Labor Code entitled them to a meal break when they worked a shift of more than five hours, even if the total shift was six hours or less. Rejecting their argument, the Fourth Appellate District held that their collective-bargaining agreement validly waived their statutory right to a meal break in these circumstances.
