California Court of Appeal

People v. Yates, 279863

Reversed a conviction under California's Sexually Violent Predators Act because the trial court had allowed hearsay evidence to be presented to the jury. The defendant contended that the prosecution's experts had related, as true, numerous case-specific facts contained in inadmissible hearsay statements. Agreeing that the hearsay was prejudicial, the Second Appellate District overturned the conviction and remanded.
