California Court of Appeal

City of Crescent City v. Reddy, 143640

In a dispute in which a City served on motel owner-defendant a notice and order to cure various building code violations at the motel, and after the necessary repairs were not made, defendant entered into a stipulated judgment in which he committed to cure a number of specified violations within six months, the trial court's grant of a motion for the appointment of a receiver to oversee compliance, after the violations had not been cured, is affirmed over defendant's arguments that the trial court erred in overruling his objections to the City's evidentiary submissions, erred in failing to take live testimony, and abused its discretion in appointing a receiver.
