In an action filed by Caltrans for declaratory relief, requesting a judicial declaration that the a performing arts foundation could not establish entitlement to a claim for loss of business goodwill after its location was taken by eminent domain, the trial court's judgment finding the foundation failed to establish that it was entitled to goodwill compensation is reversed where or purposes of the threshold determination of entitlement to compensation, a party must establish that the taking caused some amount of loss of goodwill due to the taking (along with the other requisites of the statute), but need not quantify the loss in the manner prescribed by the trial court.
