People v. Bollaert, 067863
Conviction for extortion and unlawful use of personal identifying information, stemming from defendant's operation of a website posting private, intimate photographs of people along with their social media links and an additional website charging to have the information removed, is affirmed where: 1) sufficient evidence supports defendant's conviction for unlawful use of personal identifying information and extortion; 2) the jury's rejection of immunity under the Communications Decency Act is supported by evidence that defendant developed the offensive content on his website; and 3) defendant has not shown error in the trial court's use of a civil liability jury instruction.
