California Court of Appeal

In re J.B., 144396

In a minor's appeals from a dispositional order issued pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code section 602 after he admitted committing a petty theft, the order, which imposed a condition of probation that requires him to permit searches of and disclose all passwords to his electronic devices and social media sites, is modified to strike this condition where there was no evidence connecting the juvenile's electronic device or social media usage to his offense or to a risk of future criminal conduct, and the condition is therefore unreasonable.
