The court issued a writ of mandate and held that Los Angeles County's Deferral of Sentencing Pilot Program, Penal Code sections 1001.94-1001.99, for misdemeanor offenders does not require defendants to pay the fines a charge would otherwise require in order to obtain relief under the pilot program.
