California Court of Appeal

In re Emily D., B256783

In this case, defendant-mother appeals from the juvenile court's jurisdiction findings and disposition orders declaring her children dependents of the juvenile court, removing them from her care and custody, and placing them with their respective fathers under the supervision of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (Department). The judgment of the juvenile court is affirmed, where: 1) the juvenile court did not violate defendant's due process rights by directing the Department to supplement its evidence with missing drug test results, as on this record the court did not overstep its role in adjudicating the petition; 2) the juvenile court did not abuse its discretion in continuing the hearing, and defendant has failed to show that she was prejudiced by the continuance; and 3) there was no violation of Welfare and Institutions Code section 350(c).
