People v. Kirvin, B246329

Conviction and sentence of defendant on counts of witness dissuasion and misdemeanor battery in a dating relationship is affirmed, where: 1) the trial court did not abuse its discretion in denying defendant the right to represent himself when he repeatedly refused to come to court and be interviewed by a court-appointed mental health expert; and 2) defendant is not entitled to dismissal of his convictions for attempting to dissuade a witness, as he made phone calls urging a relative to persuade the prosecution’s chief witness not to testify at trial.
