California Court of Appeal

In re M.D., A139888

Order of wardship following a finding that defendant-minor committed the crime of loitering with the intent to commit prostitution is affirmed, where: 1) the court did not err in placing the burden of proof on the minor to establish that she was a victim of human trafficking; 2) the evidence does not necessarily compel the conclusion that the minor was a victim of trafficking as a matter of law; and 3) the adequacy of trial counsel's performance in this case need not be evaluated as the minor failed to establish that any such error was prejudicial.
