Izell v. Union Carbide Corp., B245085

In this personal injury case stemming from plaintiff Izell’s alleged exposure to Union Carbide asbestos and subsequent diagnosis with mesothelioma, plaintiffs obtained a successful judgment, a special verdict finding defendant 65 percent comparatively at fault, a $30 million compensatory damages award (reduced to $6 million by remittitur), and an $18 million punitive damages award.
