Los Angeles Unified School District v. Superior Court (Los Angeles Times Communications), B251693

The trial court erred in ruling that petitioner-school district was required to produce unredacted Academic Growth Over Time (AGT) scores, which measure a teacher's effect on his or her students' performance in the California Standards Tests (CST), where: 1) the unredacted AGT scores are exempt from disclosure under the catch-all exemption in the California Public Records Act because the public interest served by not disclosing the teachers' names clearly outweighs the public interest served by their disclosure; and therefore, 2) to the extent the ruling requires disclosure by name or identifying characteristics of each teacher with his or her AGT score, the petition for writ of mandate is granted; but 3) the matter is remanded for the trial court for further proceedings regarding disclosure of the location codes.
