California Court of Appeal
Uriarte v. Scott Sales Co., B244257
In an action alleging that the airborne toxins produced by sandblasting with silica sand supplied by defendants to plaintiff's employer caused plaintiff to develop interstitial pulmonary fibrosis and other illnesses, judgment in favor of defendants is reversed, where because plaintiff's injuries were allegedly caused by the use of the silica sand during the manufacturing process, rather than by the finished product that was produced by that process, the component parts doctrine does not apply.
