People v. Durst, C071233

Defendant's conviction and sentence for arson and other crimes with enhancements for injuring firefighters is affirmed, where: 1) defendant forfeited his contention on appeal that his confession was involuntary, which in any event, is without merit; 2) the trial court properly exercised its discretion in excluding the defendant's expert's testimony on false confessions because there was minimal evidence indicating a false confession and overwhelming evidence that corroborated the confession; and 3) the contentions concerning the booking and attorney fees are without merit because defendant did not object to those fees in the trial court, and defendant was not entitled to a jury trial on his ability to pay and the actual costs to the county.
