California Court of Appeal

In re Aarica S., B248010

The trial court's order of wardship following a finding that defendant-juvenile committed the crime of soliciting prostitution is affirmed, where: 1) Evidence Code section 1161(a), applies to exclude evidence of a commercial sex act only when there is a specific causal connection between the person's status as a victim of human trafficking and the commission of the commercial sex act at issue; and 2) Evidence Code section 1161 does not apply because, supported by substantial evidence, the juvenile court found that defendant-juvenile was not a victim of human trafficking in relation to the solicitation of prostitution at issue here.
