California Court of Appeal

Dodd v. Cruz, B247493

In a personal injury action, the trial court's order granting a third party lien purchaser's motion to quash defendant's subpoena for documents relating to the third party's contractual relationship with the health care provider, including documents disclosing what the third party paid for the lien is reversed, where: 1) the ruling is appealable; 2) the trial court abused its discretion in granting the third party's motion to quash because the subpoena seeks discoverable documents relevant to plaintiff's alleged economic damages; and 3) the third party was therefore not entitled to sanctions from defendant.
