The trial court erred in denying defendants' motion for additional time to complete plaintiff's deposition, where: 1) Code of Civil Procedure section 2025.290 provides that the court " shall allow additional time, beyond any limits imposed by this section, if needed to fairly examine the deponent or if the deponent, another person, or any other circumstance impedes or delays the examination"; and 2) this provision applies not only to the 7-hour limit by counsel other than the witness's counsel imposed by section 2025.290 (a), but also the 14-hour total testimony limit imposed by section 2025.290 (b)(3).
