California Court of Appeal
Sacramento Sikh Society Bradshaw Temple v. Tatla, C064277
Judgment for plaintiff on its claim of slander of title arising out of defendants' attempts to gain control of the plaintiff's real property which had originally been donated by some of defendants, and against defendants on their cross-complaint for declaratory relief which alleged that cross-defendants have improperly assumed control of plaintiff, is affirmed, where: 1) the trial court' ruling regarding defendants' standing was based on basic legal principles rather than church doctrine; 2) the trial court's determination that defendants failed to prove they were life members of plaintiff is supported by substantial evidence; and 3) since defendants are not members of plaintiff, they have no standing to pursue their claims.
