People v. Schoop, A134793

Trial court's denial of defendant's petition for a certificate of rehabilitation, seeking to terminate his duty to register as a sex offender, is reversed and remanded where the statutory distinction in section 4852.03(a)(2) that requires persons who were convicted of section 311.1 to wait 10 years before becoming eligible to seek a certificate of rehabilitation, while allowing a shorter, seven-year waiting period for those convicted of substantially similiar offenses violates the equal protection clauses of the federal and state Constitutions.
