California Court of Appeal

Adoption of A.S., A134219

Trial court's order terminating a teenage father's parental rights and finding adoption to be in the child's best interests are affirmed where: 1) giving full faith and credit to the New York Order of Filiation under section 5604 requires a California court to give it the effect a California paternity judgment would have, but it does not require a California court to give the New York order greater effect than the same order would have if issued by a California court; 2) the trial court properly concluded that petitioner was not a presumed father under Kelsey S.; and 3) the trial court properly concluded that it was in the child's best interests to remain with the adoptive parent.
