Plotnik v. Meihaus, G045885

In plaintiffs' suit against their neighbor and the neighbor's two sons, alleging both contract and tort claims, and seeking recovery for the emotional distress they suffered when the neighbor injured their dog, the judgment of the trial court is affirmed, as although some of defendants' claims have merit, requiring further reduction of the amended judgment awards, California law allows a pet owner to recover for mental suffering caused by another's intentional act that injures or kills his or her animal.
