California Court of Appeal
Valero v. Board of Retirement of Tulare County Employees' Retirement Ass'n, F062601
In a case in which an employee was denied a service-connected disability retirement from the county, the superior court's order denying his petition for writ of mandate is affirmed, where the petitioner failed to meet his burden to show a real and measurable connection between his permanent psychiatric disability and his employment, since even if he believed that his experiences with angry clients contributed substantially to his panic attacks, a trier of fact could reasonably have concluded otherwise, and thus could have concluded that doctors' reports based upon the petitioner's uncorroborated self-reporting were not persuasive.
