California Court of Appeal
People v. Vasquez, C064913
In a prosecution for second degree robbery, assault with a firearm, and criminal threats, it is held that the defendant failed to satisfy his burden of showing that portions of a codefendant's statement he sought to introduce were specifically disserving to the codefendant's penal interests and were trustworthy, so the trial court did not abuse its discretion in excluding those statements as hearsay.
