California Court of Appeal

Personal Court Reporters, Inc. v. Rand, B229358

In an action for breach of contract and common counts brought by a provider of court reporting services: 1) the trial court's order denying the defendants' anti-SLAPP motion to strike is affirmed, where the causes of action did not arise from the defendants' free speech or petitioning activities, since they were only incidental to the "principal thrust or gravamen" of the complaint; and 2) attorney's fees are awarded to the plaintiff, as the appeal was frivolous.
