California Court of Appeal

Brown v. Crandall, A129543

In a petition for a writ of mandamus to compel defendant-county to offer medical coverage to petitioner and other indigent residents deemed ineligible for a County Medical Services Program, in accordance with the defendant's duty to provide medical care to all indigent residents not otherwise supported and relieved, Welf. and Inst. Code section 17000, judgment of the trial court dismissing petition is reversed where court erred in holding that petitioner did not fall within the class of persons to whom the defendant owes such a duty, thus incorrectly finding that petitioner lacked Section 17000 standing.
