California Court of Appeal

People v. Taravella, H033992

Trial court's denial of defendant's motion to vacate his obligation to register as a sex offender, based on his 1987 conviction for oral copulation with a minor, is reversed as, the registration requirement violates his right to equal protection by treating two groups of similarly situated offenders differently by mandating registration by one but not the other without any rational basis.
